I played my first gig in February 1967. Since then I've never stopped drumming.

Now I have a great lifestyle; I've a micro-enterprise in France as a drum teacher and gigging drummer.

Premier Signia Kit with 5" snare drum & SM57 microphones.

I have a purpose built room with 2 drum kits (Left & right-handed) as well as practice pads, plenty of sticks, a computer with approx 250 Gb of music, p.a., speakers and microphones. In fact, everything necessary to set up, tune, play, maintain and mic a kit.

If you have your own drums I can teach here or in your own home.

My rates are considerably less than you'd pay in the UK. I offer reductions for children under 12 years and I'll happily teach siblings together. I can even teach parents & children together..... if the parents aren't too nervous!

Most students have chosen lesson times on Saturdays, early evenings or school half-days.

I make allowances for holidays and I offer a trial lesson.

Part of my service is offering advice to students about buying equipment. I have two kits for sale: one is used but reasonable condition, the other is a new 'starter kit'. If you don't own drums they can be hired cheaply from me while you're having lessons. These drums can be returned within an agreed time or purchased using half the previous rental as part-payment. There's no pressure to buy from me as drums are personal things. Choice of kit dpends on drumming style, price and often colour. I enjoy visiting drum shops so I'm happy to help.

Alan seen playing and reading the music....... who said drummers can't multitask?

I am also available for dep work or gigs. I play regularly with an excellent

trio offering almost all styles of music.

Drum Links

The Shadows' drummer Brian Bennett has a website. He's always been so much more than a drummer.

Every year there's a National Drum Fair It's a great place to see demos as well as both modern & vintage drums.

Most UK drummers visit Mike Dolbear's Site sooner or later. A great resource for all percussionists. Somewhere for support, advice, an opportunity to chat with drum builders and buy or sell equipment.

An outstanding drummer called Andy Aust has recently opened a teaching studio in Berkshire:Stepstone Music

I love 60s music - especially psychedelic. Take a look at Marmalade Skies and follow the links to Tenth Planet or Wooden Hill Records. Excellent stuff, especially their 2 CDs Psychedelic Schlemiels Vol 1 & Vol 2.
